Miz Metro @ BAM Cafe, Friday, March 5
While Columbus Circle Hostel boasts perhaps the best location when it comes to visiting and tourist attractions in New York, the city has so much more to offer than Manhattan itself. For those of you who feel like venturing out and getting a taste of Brooklyn tonight, we’d like to encourage you to visit BAM – the Brooklyn Academy of Music. A lot great stuff can be said about this place but we’ll just sum it all up and say that it’s the leading contemporary arts venue which has been presenting the best, cutting-edge music, dance, theater and opera for well over a century. No New York experience would be complete without stepping a foot in that gorgeous institution, so make sure to do that before you leave the Big Apple!
BAM has more offeings than you’d like to read about in a blog so for now we’ll just invite you to BAMcafe Live which hosts various FREE live music performances. Tonight, you can see and hear Laura O’Reilly, aka Miz Metro, who will be playing her unconventional mix of soul, R&B and ska from her recent debut album, Unlimited. We highly recommend that you join the talented Miz Metro and her impressive 8-piece band at 9pm for a couple of drinks and a night of beautiful, inspired music! (Just so you know, the bar opens at 8pm.

From CCHostel, simply hop on the B train (59 Street – Columbus Circle station heading Downtown / to Brighton Beach) and get off at Atlantic Avenue – Pacific Street. Start out going North on Flatbush Ave towards State St and then turn right onto Lafayette Ave. The whole trip shouldn’t take more than 40 min from our hostel!
